Beaded
Bead made with Delicas, 15s and two sizes of firepolish beads
in circular netting stitch, Nymo thread.
A
note about Czech fire polish beads
Firepolish beads are made by taking a pressed glass bead and machine
faceting it, then heating it again to soften the facets. The effect
is similar to putting a faceted stone bead through a tumbler to
soften and polish it. I like the look of softer facets myself,
less glitzy than crystal but they have a nice twinkle when they
catch the light. The colors are often a better match for stone
(and of course Czech pressed glass beads), especially the new
hurricane colors. The hurricane colors seem to be made in very
limited batches, so far I have seldom been able to reorder the
same color twice. Cathedral beads, nuggets, ovals and gemstone
donut shape fire polish can be found on the Fancy
Firepolish beads page.
